Why Be A Bridge Exists

The dance world is rich with history, yet too often generations move in isolation.

Be A Bridge exists to close that distance.

It was created from decades of lived experience teaching, mentoring, directing, and witnessing both the beauty and the breakdown between where dance has been and where it is going.

This platform is anchored in lineage, respect, and forward movement, creating space for dialogue, understanding, and shared responsibility across generations.

Be A Bridge is about connection, not competition.

What We’re Building

Be A Bridge is currently in development, with experiences and programming designed to bring generations together through movement, conversation, and shared learning.

  • Intentional gatherings designed to bring dancers, educators, and leaders from different eras into the same space.

  • Classes and practices that acknowledge where movement comes from while supporting where it can go.

  • Facilitated dialogue that creates room for reflection, listening, and exchange across generations.

  • Space for teachers, students, leaders, and artists to engage beyond hierarchy or competition.

Formats may range from intimate one-day intensives to expanded multi-day gatherings.

Who This Is For

Be A Bridge is designed for those who value connection across generations and believe in building with intention, respect, and responsibility.

  • You are a dancer who cares about lineage as much as innovation

  • You are a teacher or educator committed to long-term impact

  • You are a leader who values mentorship and shared responsibility

  • You believe experience and emerging voices belong in the same room

  • You are not interested in competition for the sake of competition

Stewardship

Be A Bridge is stewarded by Miss Andye J, a dance educator, creative director, and mentor with over 25 years of experience working across generations, disciplines, and communities.

Her work has always lived at the intersection of teaching and leadership, honoring where movement comes from while remaining deeply attentive to where it is going.

Be A Bridge exists as a continuation of that work, guided by experience, care, and a belief in building spaces that last beyond a single moment.
